MANILA, PHILIPPINES - Airlines across the Philippines have announced widespread flight cancellations ahead of Sunday, November 17, as Super Typhoon Pepito (Man-yi) barrels towards the country, bringing with it heavy rains, strong winds, and the threat of storm surges.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a Signal No. 5 warning for several areas, including Catanduanes, where the typhoon is expected to make landfall.

Major airlines, including Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia, have announced the cancellation of numerous domestic and international flights, citing safety concerns due to the anticipated severe weather conditions.

Super Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-Yi) continues to intensify, bringing heavy rains and strong winds to parts of the Philippines. The storm is forecasted to pass over North and Central Luzon, with areas such as Manila and Clark expected to experience increased rainfall, gusty winds, and reduced visibility. 

Following the latest public advisories issued by PAGASA (Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration) on Super Typhoon Pepito, we anticipate disruptions to our flight operations in the coming days. We remain in close coordination with airport authorities and ground handling partners to ensure passenger safety.

Affected passengers have been informed via email and provided with the following options through the Manage Booking portal on the Cebu Pacific website:  

1. Free Rebooking    

Rebook without fare difference for travel up to thirty (30) days from original flight date. The fare difference will apply if the travel period is beyond thirty (30) days from the original flight date.    

2. Travel Fund    

Store the amount in a virtual CEB wallet and use this to either book a new flight or pay for add-ons (example: baggage allowance, seat selection, etc.)    

3. Refund    

Full refund of your ticket. 

CEB is also offering flexible options, including free rebooking and Travel Fund, for passengers who wish to postpone their flights to and from all domestic and international destinations from November 16 to 18, 2024. Passengers may avail of their preferred option online up to two (2) hours before their scheduled time of departure.
